10 yrs. We find that young people are capable of throwing very well, after a bit of instruction. Note: under 16s must be accompanied by an adult
No, but we do have a well stocked fridge with soft drinks and alcohol free beers
We're very sorry that we're on the first floor and wheelchair users and people with mobility issues will therefore find it difficult to get up the flight of stairs. We hope to rectify this in the future
As with any skill, some people pick it up axe throwing quicker than others, but most people get the hang of it within an hour session - at least enough to have a good time, if not the next world champion.
Obviously, throwing axes is potentially hazardous, but as a worldwide sport, accidents are very rare. At Eat Sleep Axe, we have a put safety measures in place to reduce the risk of any harm, and it is important for throwers to stick to the rules for everyone's safety. We have had no injuries to date and expect to keep it that way.
We don't recommend drinking alcohol in excess before or during your axe throwing session. If anyone is deemed unable to throw an axe safely they may be asked to leave. Exclusive venue bookings may bring in your own alcohol (small charge applies) for moderate drinking, but we recommend that this is towards the end of the session.
If you want to take your axe throwing further, you might like to join our Monday Axe Club, where you can throw and compete with other enthusiasts. Beginners very welcome. We hope to organise axe throwing competitions soon too.
We are an independent Cheltenham business and are not affiliated to any axe throwing organisation. We do use targets from World Axe Throwing League, International Axe Throwing Federation and United Knife & Axe Throwers, but you cannot earn credits with any of those organisations with us at the moment.
We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes (in case of dropping an axe), and heels are a bit tricky. Otherwise, there are no special requirements - lumberjack shirts are optional 🙂
Please arrive promptly at the time on your booking confirmation. We do not have a separate reception area, so you won't be able to enter if you arrive too early while a previous session is underway.
