10 yrs. We find that young people are capable of throwing very well, after a bit of instruction. Note: under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
No, due to the nature of the activity we do not have an alcohol license but we do have a well stocked fridge with soft drinks and alcohol free beers. Larger parties renting the whole venue can bring a limited number of alcoholic drinks for a small charge. Anyone seen to be under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to throw.
Unfortunately as we are on the second floor, or venue is only accessible by stairs and so not suitable for full wheelchair users. If you can make it up the stairs, we’re more than happy for throwers to use a chair or other mobility aid during their session, and we will do our best to make any other accessibilty accommodations neccesary. Please make us aware of anything you think may affect your session.
As with any skill, some people pick it up quicker than others, but most people get the hang of it within an hour session – at least enough to have a good time, if not the next world champion. Our coaches are on hand to give as much or as little help as you would like, and will work with you on different techniques until you find one that works for you.
Obviously, throwing axes is potentially hazardous, but as a worldwide sport, accidents are very rare. At Eat Sleep Axe, we have put safety measures in place to reduce the risk of any harm, and it is important for throwers to stick to the rules for everyone’s safety. We have had no injuries to date and expect to keep it that way.
We strongly advise flat, closed toe shoes to minimise risk of injury. The rubber pellet pits used to soften falling axes can be a little tricky to walk on in heels, so we don’t reccommend them. All participants must take ownership of their own responsibility in choosing appropriate footwear. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing that can easily be moved around in.
Please arrive by the time stated on your booking. If you’re going to be late, we’ll do our best to ensure you get your full throwing time, but we cannot always guarantee this. We’re a lot more lenient if you let us know beforehand, so if you think you’re going to be late just give us a quick call!
We are happy to accept walk ins if we have the space, but we can’t always guarantee this, so it’s best to pre-book online or give us a quick call beforehand to check if we’ve got space, particularly if you’re looking for a space later in the evening.
Yes! We also have 3 escape rooms and a splatter room available. Book any two activities with us to get 10% off your total price.
Yes, you can purchase them here under the ‘gift vouchers’ tab. All vouchers are digital and can be downloaded and printed or sent directly to the recipient. Unfortunately we do not offer physical vouchers.
We are an independent Cheltenham business and are not affiliated to any axe throwing organisation. We do use targets from World Axe Throwing League, International Axe Throwing Federation and United Knife & Axe Throwers, but you cannot earn credits with any of those organisations with us at the moment.
