Projected games to keep your session moving
Whether you want to have a full blown tournament or just some fun throwing, we have plenty of axe throwing games, from axe throwing competition targets to killing zombies!
The games are all projected onto the wood target boards and you can select any of them to play at any time during your session.
We explain the games when you start your session, but the details are also below.
Axe Throwing Games Details
WATL-Style Target
Our take on the World Axe Throwing League target, with a bit of colour, but otherwise to spec. NB: we are not affiliated to WATL.
Rules
- 10 Throws per person
- Highest score wins
- Red Bullseye = 6pts
- Killshots (blue spots) = 8pts
- Killshots must be called before throwing, 2 per 10 throws
IATF-Style Target
Our take on the International Axe Throwing Federation target, with a bit of colour, but otherwise to spec. NB: we are not affiliated to IATF.
Rules
- 3 sets of 5 throws per person
- Highest score wins each set
- Winner is best out of 3 sets
- Clutch (green spots) = 7pts
- Clutch may be called before 5th throw
Big Darts
Darts with proper throwing implements! Choose any number the blade is sticking in.
Simple
- 10 Throws. Highest score wins
Challenging
- 301 target
- 3 throws per round
- First to zero wins
- Must hit double to finish
Zombie Apocalypse
Save the world from zombies or join the infected hordes.
Simple
- 5 Throws per person
- Highest score wins
Team Game
- 1 player is “infected”
- Infected player plays each non-infected player in turn
- 5 throws each
- Infected player wins if each opponent is knocked out
- Team wins if their combined score is over 50 points
UKAT Standard T Target
The classic outdoor axe throwing target used by the United Knife and Axe Throwers and others.
Rules
- 5 sets of 3 throws per person
- Each target can only be hit once per set
- Highest score from 15 throws wins
Norse and Crosses
Noughts & crosses (but we like a pun) axe style. Draw your grid on the chalkboard and throw to get three in a row.
Simple
- Normal rules of noughts and crosses
Challenging
- If a square already claimed is hit, it can be changed to the opposite marker
Minefield
Throw at the numbers to get a high score, but don’t blow it by hitting a mine!
Rules
- 10 rounds of 1 throw each per person in turn
- If a mine is hit, score is reset to zero
- Highest score wins
One to Ten
Once you’ve got better at aiming, here’s a more challenging game
Rules
- Hit 1 to 10 in order
- If the correct number is hit, thrower gets another throw
- Winner hits all ten circles in fewest throws
Simplified Rule
- Hit in any order
Fruit Machine
Aim to get two or three of a kind to game multipliers
Rules
- 5 rounds of 3 throws
- Try to hit one symbol out of each column with each throw
- Bar = 0, fruits = 3, 7s = 7
- 2 of a kind, multiply score by 2
- 3 of a kind, multiply score by 3
Scrabble
Test your aim and your spelling in one!
Rules
- Throw until you hit 7 letters
- Of the letters you’ve hit, try and make the highest scoring word
- Gain bonus points for longer words
